Fellowship Opportunity for Master’s Degree in Scholarships Graduate School

This Scholarships Graduate School program will be offered entirely online, with the exception of a two-week residency held at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand July 18th-29th. The applications deadline for the scholarship and degree program is June 10, 2011.

The Scholarships Graduate School aim of the IDPP is to serve as a regional resource to both public and private sectors. The institute will develop a cadre of leaders who will work to foster public policies consistent with the overall vision of the ASEAN Socio-cultural Community. That is an inclusive, barrier-free and rights-based region where people who are disabled are leaders in the determination of their own destinies.

The IDPP fellowship Scholarships Graduate School committee is currently recruiting a small number of candidates who have
1) Hearing Impairments, 2) Vision Impairments, or 3) Mobility Impairments, to serve as a human resource cadre to the IDPP and conduct research on disability and public policy in the ASEAN region.

The committee seeks for persons with disabilities meeting the five criteria below:

A Scholarships Graduate School talented and motivated individual from one of the ten ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) with demonstrated leadership experience and commitment to working with organizations of/for disabled persons or other marginalized individuals in their own country.

A commitment to achieving positive change for disabled persons through the development of proactive public policies within the ASEAN region.

Information and communication technology (ICT) skills to communicate through distant education and schooling.

Commitment to cooperate with the IDPP to grow an alumni network after completing a Master’s degree in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP).

IAH Fellowships Scholarships Graduate School at College of Arts and Sciences

The Scholarships Graduate School program provides for the Department of each stock to leave the financing and half pay for the weekly seminar in which AHI offers a meal for each class 8:00 to 12:00 fellows to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from cover other disciplines.

People with a temporary employment contract, at least their fourth year are also eligible if they serve in the following semester back.

PhD Scholarships Graduate Studentship in Workplace Learning

The full-time studentship, which includes an element for teaching will be for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress. Starting bursary will be £20,000 pa plus student fees. Socio-cultural perspectives on learning emphasise the social, relational and situated processes by which individuals become accomplished practitioners. Becoming a manager, nurse, plumber, airline pilot etc. is not simply a matter of being ‘taught’ in a formal sense: identity-development and participation within networks and communities of practice are also important. Although socio-cultural perspectives have permeated academic research on learning in the past 15 years, much of the research has been uncritical: assuming that communities are idyllic (Reynolds, 2000), but neglecting the ‘dark side’ of communities (Lave & Wenger, 1991) whereby newcomers’ access to learning opportunities are blocked by oldtimers for political, economic or other reasons.
PhD applications are invited on the topic of workplace learning. The proposed PhD research could take a number of directions such as (but not limited to) the role of identity-development in learning; the politics of workplace learning; and the nature of ‘participation’. Research contexts might include business, the public sector, or not-fo profit organisations. ‘Learners’ might be of any age ranging from young apprentices to mature workers transitioning to new roles and opportunities.

Scholarship Description: Dr James Martin, of the James Martin 21st Century School, is generously supporting two new research fellows to join the Oxford stem cell community at the Oxford Stem Cell Institute (OSCI). The posts will be fixed-term for 24 months, with the expectation that external funding at career development fellow level to be sought within the first year. (Such fellowships are offered by the Wellcome Trust, MRC and Royal Society, amongst others.)

Applicants must be sponsored by a member of OSCI who has agreed to offer them adequate facilities if they are successful in their application. Consequently, they should discuss their research plans with one or more members of OSCI at an early stage, and should provide a letter of sponsorship at the time of application.

The field of research must either be the biology of mammalian stem cells or the use of stem cells to solve otherwise intractable problems in biology or medicine.

Applicants should have at least three years and no more than six years of postdoctoral experience.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant scientific productivity and potential, and propose to undertake innovative, original and independent research.

A £20k p.a. research expense allowance will be provided. The fellows will be members of both the Oxford Stem Cell Institute and the James Martin 21st Century School. They will have access to the stem cell facility and the opportunity to apply for small discretionary grants from OSCI during their first year of appointment.

Institutional racism is racism which results in different patterns of distribution of social goods in a way which regularly and systematically advantages some ethnic and racial groups and disadvantages others. It operates through key institutions of society. This PhD will focus on identification of institutional racism in Australia as organised through social arrangements in unnoticed, unintentional or informal ways. The project will map the layered forms of decision making in institutional structures and processes that result in marginalizing and exclusion of some groups while appearing fair, neutral and ‘normal’. A case study approach to unpacking institutional racism will be adopted. The case study may focus on areas such as health, social welfare, justice or education. Symantec Graduate Fellowships

Symantec will award Symantec Research Labs Graduate Fellowships to outstanding Ph.D. and M.S. students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below. A key goal of the program is to fund innovative research that has real-world value, in areas of Symantec’s business interests in information security, availability, and integrity.

Fellowship participants also gain first hand research and development experience through guidance and mentorship from a top scientist of Symantec Research Labs during the fellowship period. Each participant is also encouraged to spend a summer working with their mentor at Symantec on a research project in their area of interest.

Provisions of the Award

* In the US, the fellowship award will cover 100% of tuition and fees for the recipient’s graduate school in the US. A stipend is provided to cover living expenses while in school

* In Europe, a stipend is provided to cover research and living expenses while in school.

* Mentors from Symantec Research Labs are paired with award recipients. The mentor is a top researcher who can provide ongoing technical guidance on the recipient’s research, during their graduate training as well as during summer internships at Symantec.

* All recipients will be encouraged to take a salaried summer internship with Symantec Research Labs (Mountain View, CA, Culver City, CA, or Sophia Antipolis, France).

* Each recipient will be given a laptop preloaded with Symantec software.

* Fellowships are awarded to recipients for one academic year and may be extended for a second year, based on the award recipient's continued exceptional academic standing, progress and achievement. Any such extensions will be granted solely at Symantec's discretion.

Eligibility Criteria

* Applying students must attend a U.S. or European university in a Ph.D. or Master’s program focused on technology research. Exceptional graduating undergraduate seniors may also apply and final award is contingent on their acceptance to a graduate program.

* Preference will be given to students with a desire to work in an industrial research lab and those working on research projects likely to have real-world practical value to customers, in areas related to Symantec’s businesses of information security, availability, and integrity.

* Recipients will also be selected based on their overall potential for research excellence and their academic progress to-date as evidenced by publications.

* The scholarship awards will be made through the university and are not transferable to another academic institution.
